Payne was in Argentina to see the concert and wanted to “square up a couple of things” with his former bandmate, he said on Instagram.
He took to Snapchat to share footage of his time in the city, attending the concert with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
The pair have been dating since October 2022.
Video went viral earlier this month with fans expressing concern about Payne’s “erratic” behaviour during the show.
Both Payne himself shared footage and fans close by were quick to snap footage of the singer.
“Tapping his foot missing the beat says all I need to know,” one commenter said to a video that went viral of the singer ahead of Horan’s performance.
“Eee Liam does not look ok he looks erratic and off the rails,” a second said.
“This is so painful to watch, damn,” another said.
One added: “What has happened to him, this is actually concerning.”
Meanwhile, Payne said on his own Snapchat stories at the time: “What a great night, so happy I got to see Niall in concert.
“Proud of Mr Horan.”
Footage revealed him showing fans his outfit before dancing along to Horan’s music.
He was seen backstage before snapping a selfie with Horan and captioning, “Reunited”.
Driving home he then sang One Direction’s hit song Night Changes.
Payne said on Instagram ahead of the show: “We’re going to Argentina.
“One, because we want to. Two, because we want to. And three, because Niall Horan’s playing down there and I think we might just go and say ‘hello’.
“It’s been a while since me and Niall have spoken. We’ve got a lot to talk about and I would like to square up a couple things with the boy. No bad vibes or nothing like that but we just need to talk.”
He famously went on Logan Paul’s podcast in 2022 and called out former bandmates Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.
Payne rose to fame alongside Horan and fellow bandmates Harry Styles, Malik and Tomlinson as part of the British-Irish boy band sensation One Direction.
They formed on The X Factor UK in 2010 and went on to become one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
The group enjoyed monumental success, with hits including What Makes You Beautiful, Story of My Life, and Drag Me Down.
They earned countless awards and sold millions of albums worldwide before going on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.
