2025 MG ZS price and specs: Petrol lineup detailed
After launching exclusively as a hybrid last November, the MG ZS range is being expanded with purely petrol-powered models.
The petrol-powered ZS Excite, Essence and Essence Turbo are now reaching showrooms, with the range opening at $26,990 drive-away.
The new petrol ZS range replaces the old ZS Excite and the ZST lineup, offering a choice of naturally aspirated and turbocharged engines like the latter.

The old ZS Excite was cheaper at $22,990 before on-road costs, but the new ZS Excite packs a lot more standard safety equipment while still opening at only $500 more than the old ZST range when comparing prices before on-roads.
The ZS is a critical model for MG, being not only the brand’s best seller but also Australia’s best-selling small SUV. It’s a title MG Australia is keen to keep moving forward.

The MG ZS is backed by a 10-year, 250,000km warranty.
Servicing is required every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. Capped pricing is available for the first 10 visits.
Safety
Petrol-powered MG ZS models have yet to be tested by ANCAP, though Hybrid+ models have a four-star safety rating based on testing conducted in 2024.
