Rocky Gully vehicle rollover: Helicopter sent as firefighters work to free driver trapped in Easter crash

The RAC Rescue helicopter has been sent to the scene of a serious crash near Rocky Gully, with firefighters working to free the trapped driver on Good Friday. Police say the incident happened about 1.37pm on Friday on Muirs Highway and Bore Road, west of the Great Southern town of Mt Barker. A WA Police spokeswoman said the crash was understood to have involved a single vehicle which rolled, with the driver trapped inside the car. Injuries are unknown at this point, and St John WA paramedics were on the scene. The RAC rescue helicopter flew to the scene, taking the driver in his 60s to Bunbury Health Campus A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said volunteer firefighters from Walpole and Mt Barker had been sent to assist. The crash, which happened in the shire of Plantagenet, is the fourth serious crash in the Great Southern in three days. The Easter long weekend got off to a horrific start with a double fatality in Jerramungup on Thursday. A man and a woman travelling in a ute towing a caravan were killed after a crash involving a road train on South Coast Highway. There was also a crash in Centennial Park in Albany on Thursday, while on Wednesday night a woman had a lucky escape after her car rolled near Ravensthorpe.
