Five killed in plane crash near Costa Rica capital
A small plane travelling to Costa Rica's capital of San Jose has crashed, killing five of the six passengers on board.
The aircraft - a Cessna 206 Stationair - came down near the Pico Blanco mountain, officials said.
Firefighters said they had located the wrecked aircraft and confirmed that most aboard had died. A sixth person, who the Red Cross identified as a 31-year-old woman, is in critical condition.
All of those aboard were from Costa Rica, according to the country's civil aviation authority.
The plane had taken off from Tortuguero on Costa Rica's northern Caribbean coast and was en route to San Jose.
