After a recent successful Sydney exhibition, local artist Sobrane Simcock will be showcasing some of her new works for a one-week exhibition at Fremantle’s Kidogo Art House.

From Thursday, March 14, Sobrane will display paintings from her Wild Birds and Other Things exhibition, which was created in her Whale Beach Studio on the northern beaches of Sydney.

Some of the exhibition’s paintings see a deflection from her old works with new movements in the artist’s work.

The exhibition will open in a special show at the Kidogo Art House on Thursday, March 14, featuring the tunes of musicians Suzie Quicke and Russell Holmes.

Sobrane has developed quite the reputation around Australia and the world with a large, well-established gallery in Broome, exhibitions in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Italy, and wall murals in Soriano in Italy, Broome, Bowral in New South Wales, and Tasmania.

In 2017, she completed her second exhibition in Hong Kong with the Asia Contemporary Art Show as part of Hong Kong’s Art Month and held her first solo exhibition in Rome at MatEr Gallery.

Last year, Sobrane completed her largest artwork to date, painting a 30m silo in the Victorian town of Tungamah.

The artwork features her signature birds in the form of giant cranes dancing around the silo complex.

She also became the first Australian woman to paint a silo.
