A four-year-old boy was killed yesterday after being struck by a car while crossing the road in the remote Kimberley town of Derby.

Police said the incident happened at about 12.50pm on Tuesday when three boys were attempting to cross Loch Street.

Two of the boys made it across the street but another boy was struck by a white Toyota Prado as he ran across the road.

The boy received critical injuries and died at the scene.

The 43 year old female driver of the Toyota was not injured.

Major Crash investigators and Derby Police are investigating the fatal crash and are seeking the public’s assistance for information.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the crash, or the three boys or the Toyota Prado prior to the incident.

Anyone with any information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a report online.
