Two fighters hailing from Broome Mixed Martial Arts club have brought home silver medals from the Submission Grappling Tournament at HBF Stadium in Perth earlier this month.

TJ Anderson and Terry Budd both brought home a silver medal from their respective divisions after taking on opponents in more than eight bouts each on January 21.

Anderson engaged in a series of challenging bouts in the male No-Gi blue belt 88.3kg division, earning himself a silver medal. Oliver Armstrong from Evolution Brazilian Jiu Jitsu took home the bronze and Joshua Colyn, also from Evolution BJJ, took home the gold.

It comes after Anderson was crowned the WA Jiu Jitsu Champion in the juvenile boys absolute No-Gi division after an intense match against New Zealander Norman Berryman at the State Championships in Perth on November 26.

Despite fighting above his weight class due to a lack of opponents in his designated weight class, Anderson took on the challenge of competing against Berryman who weighed 9kg more.

The competition was a mixed bag of results for Anderson, as he also competed in the Juvenile Boys No-Gi above 86kg ultra-heavy division, facing Berryman again.

Berryman won the bout, claiming gold, while Anderson brought home the silver.
