Broome woman Noelia Jack jailed for throwing coffee mug at parter during drunk argument

A Broome woman has been sentenced to nine months behind bars and handed $300 in fines after throwing a mug at her partner. Noelia Jack, 48, had been in a relationship with Adrian Sampi for five months when she struck him with a mug after a drunken argument at a Forest Street property on December 29. The mug caused lacerations to Mr Sampi’s eyebrow which required five stitches. After initially being granted protective bail, which barred her from making contact with or being near Mr Sampi, Jack was later seen by police within 50m of his home. Jack was serving a suspended imprisonment order at the time of offending for a similar incident in January 2019 when she struck a former partner in the face with a Bluetooth speaker. Magistrate Stephen Sharratt said significant gaps in Jack’s criminal history played a part in his decision to allow two nine-month prison sentences to run concurrently. “Ms Jack had no legal issues from 1993 to 2009 and again from 2012 to 2017. It’s also the first time she’ll be imprisoned,” he said. Jack will be eligible for parole in June.
