Kimberley players in the AFL were thin on the ground again over the weekend with injuries knocking the players out of round 17 as the competition rapidly approaches the finals.

But Broome’s Bailey Banfield continued to shine as the Fremantle Dockers tallied another win after a solid victory over the Saint Kilda Saints by 41 points on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium.

Banfield continued to impress scoring two goals and two behinds over the course of the match while being positioned in the centre.

The Dockers were trailing before half-time and it looked like it might be defeat. But Fremantle jumped into action in the second half, kicking seven goals in the third term putting them well and truly in the lead until the final siren, 17.9 (111) to 10.10 (70).

Then the West Coast Eagles were dominated again, with the Carlton Blues defeating them by an impressive 63 points at Optus Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Halls Creek’s Sam Petrevski-Seton was on the field again in this round, racking up 15 disposals and laying four tackles in half-back for the Eagles.

Unfortunately, there was no sign of Halls Creek’s Jy Farrar for the Gold Coast Suns in their win against the Richmond Tigers on Saturday, 14.10 (94) to 13.14 (92).

There was also no sign of Derby’s Callum Ah Chee for the Brisbane Lions in their loss to the Essendon Bombers due to the AFL’s health and safety protocols, 13.12 (90) to 15.10 (100).

Halls Creek’s Shane McAdam was still out with an ankle injury as the Adelaide Crows succumbed to the Hawthorn Hawks 13.8 (86) to 8.6 (54).

And Broome’s Jack Martin was also still out with a calf injury, missing out on the Carlton Blues’ massive victory over the West Coast Eagles by 63 points, 17.14 (116) to 8.5 (53).
