Broome’s under-16s boys cricket team plays in junior country week competition

Broome’s under-16 boys’ cricket team played in the recent Country Cricket Board junior country week competition and although they didn’t get a win they showed what it means to play with Kimberley spirit.

The team played at six cricket grounds across Perth against five other country teams from January 8 to 12.

Taking on the Wellington team at Tompkins Park for their first match of the competition, the Broome team unfortunately succumbed to the Wellington side, 8-103 to 5-118.

In the team’s second game at Richardson Park, Geraldton managed to defeat Broome 9-118 to 6-125.

Albany and Districts took out the win against Broome in their third game at Cook Reserve by 103 runs, 10-106 to 10-209.

Broome was defeated Bunbury and Districts, 10-79 to 4-211, before suffering another loss to Busselton Margaret River, 7-235 to 10-72.

Unfortunately in the final round, Broome was rematched with Geraldton who managed to take out the win for a second time, 4-100 to 9-99.
