Broome’s Zac Incerti to headline seven West Australian swimmers heading to Commonwealth Games
Dual Olympic medallist and Broome sporting legend Zac Incerti is preparing to dive into preparations for Birmingham after being selected in Australia’s Commonwealth Games swimming team.
He will headline a septet of West Aussies heading to the event after a strong performance at the Australian Swimming Championships, and will be joined by Brianna Throssell, Josh Edwards-Smith, Holly Barratt, Kieren Pollard, Josh Yong and Alex Saffy.
Incerti turned heads at last week’s championships, clocking a time of 1:45.80 to prevail in the 200m freestyle final before winning silver in the 100m freestyle, missing out on the gold by just 0.1 seconds.

The times saw Zac also earn a call-up to the Australian Dolphins squad for the FINA World Championships in Budapest, a month out from the Commonwealth Games.
Joining Incerti in qualifying for a second Commonwealth Games, triple Olympic Medalist Brianna Throssell will also be a star of the team, making a statement at the Australian Swimming Championships by claiming gold in the 100m butterfly and a bronze in the 200m butterfly.
Incerti will be hoping to mirror his performances from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, in which the 26-year-old won two bronze medals in the 4x100m and 4x200m men’s freestyle.
