Christmas ‘dreamland’for kids during party
The Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre is set to be overrun with excited families ringing in the Silly Season in true Broome style.
The Spirit and RedFM Kids Christmas Party will be making its return to the BRAC pool on Saturday, December 1, and is set to be even bigger and better event this year.
Redwave Media Kimberley manager Claudia Amiet-Besoni said this year’s party would have an even bigger focus on entertainment.
“This year Wanna Play will be holding three different events and activities during the party, instead of holding just one like last year,” she said.
“These will be creating an animated bubble land with the kids, a Silly Science Show and an interactive circus show.
“A couple of Studio 34 dancers will also be performing on stage and of course Santa Claus will be making an appearance and giving away a few goodie bags.”
Along with the entertainment, there will be plenty of amusements with face painting, a bouncy castle, a free sausage sizzle and BRAC’s giant pool inflatable.
But the fun is not just for the kids. The young at heart can also get involved and let off some steam in an inflatable Gladiator ring.
Coinciding with the early Christmas celebration, Spirit and RedFM will also be celebrating its 21st birthday.
During the party, people will be able to make donations to SAFE Broome.
With so much planned for the afternoon, Ms Amiet-Besoni said she was confident the Broome community would turn out in large numbers, especially given the party would be taking place on a weekend.
“Last year we had a total of 360 people — 240 kids and 120 adults — and I am sure the numbers will be even higher this year,” she said.
“I’ve heard there’s been a lot of interest in the lead-up, so I’m sure everyone will enjoy themselves.
“Our aim has always been to offer a Christmas party for every kid because not every kid gets the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with their parents.”
Ms Amiet-Besoni hopes the party will be a dreamland for the children and that it creates positive childhood memories.
“I want them to look back and think about how amazing it was when they get older,” she said.
“Over the years when Santa drops by, it has been amazing to watch the kids light up and smile because it might be their first experience with Santa.
“It’s so rewarding to witness and with the many sponsors really getting involved in the event. It’s nice to see the community coming together for something like this.”
The Spirit and RedFM Kids Christmas Party kicks off from 2pm on Saturday, December 1, at the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre.
