Commonwealth Games athlete Taneille Crase to present Broome Little Athletics with Centre of the Year trophy

One of Australia’s elite Commonwealth Games athletes, Taneille Crase, travelled to Broome at the weekend to present Broome Little Athletics with their trophy after winning the Centre of the Year award earlier this April. On April 21 Broome Little Athletics club won the Centre of the Year award at the Coles Little Athletics Australia awards held in Melbourne. The Broome Little Athletics Centre took out the win in the Very Remote category for hosting a number of community-based events, including the WA Northwest Athletics Championships and the Kimberley Gift which helps young Aboriginal Australians showcase and pursue their passions. Now nearly six months later the club will be presented with their trophy, with Little Athletics Australia ambassador and coordinator Taneille Crase travelling to Broome to personally deliver the trophy. “It’s a huge congratulations to Broome Little Athletics being one of the centre of the years with the Coles award,” she said. “This is an outstanding award for a centre to actually win because it shows all the hard work that the volunteers are doing and all the effort that is being put into our clubs and into our centres. “It’s shows that it’s paying off and we’re rewarding them for that and so they should be super happy for all their efforts throughout the whole season.” The Centre also received a cheque for $2000 from the Coles team. While in town from September 3 to 7, the Commonwealth Games gold medal winner will also be running clinics around local schools and other coaching opportunities for the centre.
