Netballers got the chance to celebrate the 2018 NAIDOC message among friendly competition in the NAIDOC North West Netball Carnival.

Teams from across the North West flocked to the Broome Recreation Centre last Friday and Saturday to take part in a round-robin competition. After another competition was held earlier in the year, Netball WA wanted to celebrate the NAIDOC message of “Because of Her, We Can”.

Junior teams competed on Friday, while the senior teams took to the courts on Saturday in a twilight competition.

The junior teams also got the chance to meet West Coast Fever and Australian Diamonds player Courtney Bruce.

Bruce was in Broome after taking part in a leadership camp with the Shooting Stars program in Lombadina.

She said she was excited to see how the Shooting Stars teams fared in the junior competition after helping out with mentoring them over the preceding week.

Despite the wet season heat kicking in, the two-day netball carnival was enjoyed by all participants.
