Halls Creek AFL star Shane McAdam faces three-game suspension over brutal tackle on GWS defender Jacob Wehr
One of the Kimberley’s star AFL players is heading to tribunal after hitting a rival player with a brutal high shoulder bump in round one at the weekend.
Adelaide Crows’ Shane McAdam laid a huge high shoulder bump on Greater Western Sydney Giants Jacob Wehr after the GWS defender caught a mark in the third quarter.
With the tackle being deemed as careless conduct, severe impact and high contact, means the Halls Creek AFL legend will now face the tribunal and is looking at a minimum three-game ban.
Despite the hard tackle Wehr passed a concussion test and returned to the field for the rest of their win against the Crows.
But McAdam was not the only player caught in the limelight over a hard tackle at the weekend with Melbourne Demon Kysaiah Pickett’s high shoulder bump on Western Bulldog Bailey Smith resulting in two-game suspension being handed down on Monday March 20.
Another West Aussie, Sydney Swans legend Lance Franklin, was also reprimanded for a hard tackle against Gold Coast Suns defender Sam Collins with the Swans’ star handed a one-game suspension.
It comes at a time where concussion is hot topic in professional sport with the AFL facing a class action from former players and the West Australian Football Commission set to introduce a three-step concussion policy in WA community football this season.
