It was a hard fought round of AFL footy over the Anzac Day long weekend, with several players from the Kimberley taking to the field.

Shane McAdam from Halls Creek helped Adelaide fly on to victory against the Bulldogs in Saturday morning’s clash, kicking two goals and winning 12 disposals.

McAdam persevered through a hard game receiving treatment for an injured left knee, right calf and suffering from a cramp, but still managed to be a major and constant threat to the Bulldogs.

The Crows just managed to scrape through to get the win by one point 8.15 (63) to 9.8 (62) after the two teams remained neck and neck for the whole match.

Broome boy Jack Martin helped the Blues put up a good fight against the Dockers, kicking a goal and a behind for Carlton, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get them over the line with the Dockers pulling in front during the second quarter with five consecutive goals.

Martin had a total of nine disposals during the match and landed four tackles but Fremantle hung on to the lead for the rest of the game, taking out the win 14.13 (97) to 9.8 (62).

Broome’s Bailey Banfield for the Dockers was subbed on to replace Sean Darcy in the fourth quarter but unfortunately did not manage to get a touch of the footy.

Fellow Broome boy Joel Hamling did not get a run for the Dockers in Saturday night’s game.

Derby’s Callum Ah Chee had eight disposals for Brisbane on Saturday afternoon keeping the pressure on the Gold Coast Suns throughout the match.

It was a close game between the Lions and the Suns but it was the Lions who pulled out in front with their performance within the forward 50 pushing them on to victory with a healthy margin of 52 points, 21.6 (132) to 11.14 (80).

Unfortunately Halls Creek local Jay Farrar for the Suns had to drop out of the clash due to illness.

There was also no sign of Sam Petrevski-Seton from Halls Creek in the Eagles’ humiliating 84 point loss to Port Adelaide Power on Saturday afternoon, 18.9 (117) to 4.9 (33).
