The Looma Lady Eagles have proved they are a force to be reckoned with this WKFL season with the team of skilled female footballers taking down the Broome Bulls in a dominant display at the weekend.

Taking to the field down at Father McMahon Oval in Broome on Saturday afternoon, the Looma Eagles opened the first term of the match with some hard play, landing several tackles to push the ball into their half of the field.

Looma’s Sophira Buaneye was a powerhouse in the Eagles’ backline, managing to grab the ball and knock it back every time it came over the 50m line.

And while both teams fought ferociously both failed to make substantial headway on the board with the Eagles in the lead by just two points at half-time, 1.2 (8) to 1.0 (6).

After the half-time break the Eagles re-entered the game with a new found tenacity which the Bulls weren’t prepared for with Looma kicking five goals while the Bulls failed to make a single score.

Looma continued their streak into the final term while the Bulls lagged behind failing to make a score securing themselves a devastating defeat, 8.5 (53) to 1.0 (6).

Rachel Southam, Lacara Buck, Shonterah Buck, Jehanne Broome and Delta Hunter were named the best players of the match for the Looma Eagles.

Next week the Looma Lady Eagles will face down with last year’s premiers, the Broome Towns, who have started off the season in top form, down at Father McMahon Oval on Saturday afternoon.
