Masterchef fan-favourite Khanh Ong has been announced as the headline chef for this year’s Shinju Matsuri sunset long table dinner.

Each year, Shinju Matsuri — the festival of the pearl — offers an amazing display of what Broome has to offer and this year, from August 26 to September 10, is no different.

Khanh Ong, who shot to fame as a MasterChef fan favourite in seasons 10 and 12, will be working alongside local caterers to curate and deliver this year’s sunset long table dinner.

His passion for aromatic Asian flavours has been transporting Australians into the bustling marketplaces of his native Vietnam ever since.

He is also the author of the best-selling book ‘A Gay Guys Guide to Life Love Food’, and starred in the 2022 series of Australian Survivor.

The sunset long table dinner is one of the most renowned events on the festival program and attracts guests from all over the country.

The Shinju Matsuri Festival will take place from 26th August to 10th September 2023 and will include a range of exciting events such as the Livelighter Opening Ceremony, the Livelighter Float Parade, and the Shinju Matsuri Art Awards Presentation.
