Misfits geta hat-trick after big win

The Misfits have managed three wins in a row after a 19-point victory over the Redbacks.

In the 11th round of competition, a delay in court arrival saw the Redbacks at a serious disadvantage as the Misfits were awarded a 10-point headstart for the first quarter.

The Redbacks certainly had a lot of work to do to make up for lost ground as a number of three-pointers from Clint Monardo extended the Misfits’ lead from 10 points to 19 at half-time.

Following the main break, the Redbacks stepped into a new gear, determined to catch up to the Misfits with big scoring efforts from Daniel Dwyer and great driving by Jakheem Coaby.

With fundamental errors costing both teams, the one-sided contest soon became a struggle for both teams.

By three-quarter time, the Redbacks managed to shave down the margin from 19 points to eight points in a stellar effort to catch up.

The pace of the match continued to be incredibly fast-paced, especially in the final quarter as the Redbacks continued to push for a comeback and the Misfits looked to extend their lead.

In the closing minutes of the match, inaccurate passes proved to be the Redbacks’ downfall as the Misfits broke away to take home the 51-32 win and cement their position in third on the ladder.

Elsewhere, the Hornets continued their impressive undefeated streak with a 44-35 win over the Gantheaume Pointers, the Clippers narrowly escaped the B-Town Ballerz by just one point and the match-up between the Orl Blaks and the Roosters ended in a disqualification.

Round 12 will take place on Thursday, August 16 when the Gantheaume Pointers will take on the B-Town Ballerz, the Clippers will square off against the Misfits, Redbacks will go up against the Roosters and reigning premiers Orl Blaks will take on the undefeated Hornets.
