More than 20 Kimberley community organisations selected for Horizon Power’s community partnerships program

More than 20 Kimberley community organisations and businesses have been selected as the latest recipients of Horizon Power’s community partnerships grant program, pumping thousands of dollars into the Kimberley community. The $468,888 in funding will support 57 community events and organisations throughout regional WA including 22 in the Kimberley. West Kimberley recipients include the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre, Broome Aboriginal Media Association, Derby’s Boab Festival, Broome Performing Arts Co-Op, Broome Soccer Association, Broome Town Band, West Kimberley Country Women’s Association, Derby Media Aboriginal Corporation, Nagula Jarndu, Society for Kimberley Indigenous Plants and Animal, Horizon House, Broome Chamber of Commerce and the Shire of Derby. East Kimberley recipients include the East Kimberley Chamber of Commerce, Far North Community Services, Gawooleng Yawoodeng Aboriginal Corporation, Kununurra Water Ski Club, Mulan Aboriginal Corporation, Ngnowar Aerwah Aboriginal Corporation, Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service, Apex Club of Kununurra and the Shire of Wyndham. Energy Minister Reece Whitby said he was pleased to see the program’s latest round supporting 57 programs and events in the regions. “I’m pleased to see such enthusiasm for Horizon Power’s community partnerships program, which has contributed approximately $4.5 million and supported more than 450 different initiatives across regional and remote WA,” he said. Through Horizon Power, the State Government provides $1.1m each financial year to regional community initiatives and events. Applications for the program’s next round will open in mid-July.
