Racers from across WA kick up dirt in Broome Speedway’s Shinju Matsuri event

Racers from as far south as Albany hit Broome’s red dirt speedway track to compete against more than 90 other entrants across 11 divisions in Broome Speedway’s Shinju Matsuri event.

First up n the Wingless Sprint Carnarvon’s Julian Andreoli, after rolling his car the previous night, took the win, with Karratha’s Brett White in second place.

The youngsters of the event, the Junior Quarter Midgets, went head to head during the daylight with Derby’s Lincoln Hoath winning the feature, followed by Broome’s Steven Kirk in second place and fellow Derby local Issac Pigram third.

Broome girls took out the top three places in the Junior Go Karts race with Michelle Rainey-Barton claiming victory over her sister Carlia Rainey-Barton and Piper Radke third.

In the Senior Go Karts race, Kununurra’s Clinton Morey out-paced the Harris boys from Broome to win the feature, with Ben Harris second and Dan Harris third.

The New Star Juniors were fiercely competitive with the leader changing each heat but ultimately Broome’s Jamikah Darcy claimed the top spot on the podium with fellow Broome product Aiden Mills second and Karratha’s Katie Beadle third.

Karratha had their revenge in the Junior Top Stars feature, with Karratha local Tyde Lovell taking out the top spot, Mandurah’s Max Lang second and Derby’s Cohen Doust third.

In the Street Stocks, Derby local Jake Hoath stole the win out from under WA’s top street stocks racer, Carnarvon’s Damon Lyall, after a lengthy battle on the track. Broome local Curt Harris was third.

The Minshull boys took out two of the top three spots in the Modlites feature with Warren Minshull taking the win followed by Rob Kirk and Bradley Minshull in second and third place respectively.

Then the productions tore up the track, with Ballajura’s Jeff Kendall crossing the line first followed by Jack MacAuley from Karratha and Albany’s Stephen Pearce.

Jake Hoath took home another win, this time in the Modifieds race, beating out Broome’s Jeff Steele and Brent Cookes in second and third spots.

Fan favourites the Super Sedans then hit the track, with Broome’s Tom Oliver taking out the top spot, followed by Mt Barker’s Rob Knox. Fellow Broome local James O’Niell, piloting Phil Barton’s super sedan, was third.
