In the Broome Soccer Association junior league the Blue Tongues have proved they’re the team to beat after defeating the Slimy Shreks in a top of the table clash on Wednesday night.

The Blue Tongues took an early lead over the Shreks thanks to some powerful strikes from Massimo Skriva and went into half-time as the favourite to win.

In the second half the Sherks came out firing after a rousing half-time team talk from coach Ben Robinson.

Despite the fire in their bellies and some good play through the midfield the Sherks were unable to get the ball past Hannah Murray in defence, while Tongues Elliot O’Hallorans had a shot deflect into goal at the other end to see the game end 4-0.

In the second game of the evening the Yellow Skittles dominated the Exotic Dugongs, with Fletcher Amies scoring a hatrick and Max Pascoe adding a fourth.

Despite being behind by so many the Dugongs did push through for a consolation goal in the second half courtesy of Jaspar Chapman.

As it stands, the Blue Tongues sit atop the leage with 13 points, with Slimy Shreks in second with 7, Yellow Skittles in third with 4 points and Exotic Dugongs at the bottom with two points.
