Jamie Murray: Tributes flood in for 45 year-old man left for dead on Boundary Road, Dudley Park

The 45-year-old man who was killed in a hit and run in Perth’s south has been remembered as a “beautiful soul taken way too early”. Jamie Murray was found unresponsive on Boundary Road, Dudley Park, about 5am on Saturday morning. Police were called to the scene and conducted CPR upon arrival, but he could not be saved. Mr Murray was a father to two young boys and a “stalwart” in the local performing arts scene. A Primadonna Productions spokesperson told The West Australian Mr Murray worked as a stage crew member for more than 20 years. “He has been a friendly face at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre for more than two decades,” the spokesperson said. “Jamie was also in possession of a top notch singing voice although he didn’t advertise his talents. “Twenty years ago I managed to get him onstage in Les Miserables which was, I think, his only foray onto the stage sadly. “We were always nagging him to join a show. “Jamie was the proud dad of two young boys and our hearts go out to them. “Jamie will be sorely missed by everyone.” Arts Minister and member for Mandurah David Templeman described Mr Murray as a “wonderful man”. He urged any witnesses with information to come forward. Tributes flowed in online, with many saying his passing was a “huge loss to the community”. Karen Francis described Mr Murray as “one in a million”. “You are one in a million, such a beautiful soul and taken way too early,” she said in a Facebook post. “Thank you for all your help over the years at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre with our shows and the kind and generous way you were with everyone. “You were so nice to work with ... thank you for always just being you ... today is a very sad day.” Major crash officers were at the scene on Saturday morning making inquiries, including whether he was hit by a car.
