Great Southern students Bronte Slack and Zuri Richardson take part in OneSchool Global Pitch Perfect challenge

Two OneSchool Global students from the Great Southern have taken part in a new worldwide educational product pitch challenge. Year 12 students Bronte Slack, from Albany, and Zuri Richardson, from Gnowangerup, are participating in the inaugural Pitch Perfect educational challenge designed to encourage fresh thinking in a unique academic environment. Inspired by the reality television show Shark Tank, 100 OSG students from around the globe were split into teams of five to develop an innovative business idea or product and create a short promotional pitch video. Pitch Perfect participants are from Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Barbados, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden, and the UK. From the 20 teams that started the challenge (October 2024 to January 2025), the top seven will progress to the final round where the three finalists will be announced early February. The three groups will present their idea to a panel of established business leaders on March 7. Bronte said she is grateful for the opportunity and work with students from around the world. “Collaborating with a team across the world has been such a unique opportunity,” she said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the final products of the other team’s efforts.” Zuri said it was “an honour to represent her campus on a global level.” “Working with students from other countries gives me a unique opportunity to broaden my horizons, think bigger, interact on a global scale, and develop business acumen and skills,” she said. OSG Australia regional principal Simon Beaumont said Pitch Perfect complements the OSG learning-to-learn framework by encouraging them to “think outside the box” and take control of their education through self-directed study. “Just like in the TV show Shark Tank, students will have to create a comprehensive business plan that sets out a dollar amount they are seeking in start-up capital in exchange for a percentage of their business,” he said. “We want our students to broaden their horizons and know that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to, and Perfect Pitch is designed to support that. May the best idea win!”
