Spartans White hold off gallant rivals in second division

Spartans White cashed-in on a superior offensive spread to grab a two-point win, 62-60, against Spartans Green last Friday night in the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Basketball Association’s men’s division 2 competition.

Jethro Mann’s 14 points led Spartans White, who also had Ben Tanner (11), Isaac Baker (10), and Mitchell Crombie (10) in double digits.

Their combined efforts countered those in the opposition camp of Kelby Virgin who racked up a game-high 26 points.

However, teammate Tejay Webber (17) was the next best support as Spartans Green pulled up just short.

CBC, Spartans Green and Saints Red hold down the top three ladder spots, each with five wins.

In the women’s second division, Olympians held off Saints in a thriller on Monday night by a point, 41-40.

Saints’ Shaye Wright racked up a game-high 15 points but it was countered when each of Olympians’ players hit the scoreboard.

The round will be completed on Friday night when CBC meet Spartans at 6.15pm.

Round 10 in the men’s first division started on Thursday night and continues on Friday when CBC meet Olympians at 6.15pm.

On Friday night in the women’s first division, Saints play Olympians at 7.30pm.

Division 2 men:

Spartans White d Spartans Green 62-60; Saints Red d Saints 59-51; Olympians d Franchise 68-51.

Division 3 men:

Olympians (2) d CBC (3) 50-36; Olympians (1) d CBC (4) 66-28; Saints d Spartans 77-49.

Division 2 women:

Olympians d Saints 41-40.

Division 3 women:

Olympians (1) d CBC (1) 44-23; Olympians (2) d Spartans Green 52-19; Spartans White drew with CBC (2) 38-38.
