40 ‘themed’ cars in Variety Bash roll into two towns
More than 40 spectacularly themed cars rolled into Broome and Derby earlier this week as part of the 23rd annual Variety Bash WA.
Locals welcomed the colourful group to Broome on Monday at the Town Beach water park, which had been built for $100,000 in 2010 with help from Variety WA.
The bash participants’ eightday adventure will see them bring entertainment, excitement and an economic boost to communities in and around Port Hedland, Broome, Derby, and the East Kimberley before finishing their trip in Kununurra on Saturday.
As part of their quest they present much-needed grants of educational and recreational equipment to individuals and regional community groups to help WA kids in need to live, laugh and learn.
Cable Beach Primary, St Mary’s College and Broome High School, Derby District High School, Holy Rosary School and Looma Remote Community School will all receive grants of book vouchers worth $1000.
Along their travels down the Gibb River Road, Sacred Heart School in Beagle Bay will receive funding for an outdoor learning area worth $30,000.
