The Kimberley AFL cohort once again proved their mettle over the Easter long weekend with each player making a score despite their teams succumbing to their opponents.

Broome boy Bailey Banfield once again stepped up to the plate in Fremantle’s clash with Adelaide despite the Dockers devastating loss to the Crows.

The Broome product kicked the first goal for Fremantle in the fourth minute of the first term and went on to follow it up with a behind before making good on another goal for the Dockers before the close of the first term.

But despite the colossal effort, Fremantle couldn’t match the tenacity of the Crows who controlled the ground from the first siren, 17.9 (111) to 10.12 (72).

Halls Creek’s Ash Johnson returned to the field this round once again in the Magpies forward line in their clash against Brisbane on Thursday night.

Newcomer Johnson managed to boot a goal in the eighth minute of the first quarter, following up a behind by Beau McCreery to give Collingwood the lead by the end of the first term.

But Collingwood fell away after a leading first quarter to allow the Lions to dominate the play for the rest of the match and take home the win, 18.8 (116) to 11.17 (83).

Sam Petrevski-Seton also returned to the field for West Coast this round in full-back but despite his position was still able to get himself onto the scoreboard.

The Halls Creek product scored a goal in the closing minutes of the final term and was followed less than a minute later by Tim Kelly with another goal for West Coast as the Eagles mounted a last ditch attack despite the massive margin.

But it wasn’t enough to take the Eagles to victory with the Demons doubling their score, 9.9 (63) to 19.12 (126).

Unfortunately, there was no sign of regulars from the Kimberley Jy Farrar for Gold Coast in their loss to the St Kilda, Callum Ah Chee for Brisbane in their win over the Magpies and Jack Martin for Carlton in their win over North Melbourne.

And Adelaide Crow Shane McAdam is still waiting out his suspension from round one.
