Broome club sweeps podium
Pearl Coast Gymnastics Club sent 38 youngsters to Karratha back in July for the annual Regional Gymnastic Championships, and came home with a medal haul after the two-day event.
The team, made up of 24 girls and 14 boys aged 6-15, won a total of 36 medals between them.
Of the female competitors, six-year- old Piper Cameron-Stone was the team’s only level 1 club gymnast and won a bronze medal.
Three gold and three silver medals were won by Broome level 2 club participants, while Pahni Clifton was the sole level 3 club gymnast and collected another gold medal.
At national level, the club’s level 1 girls won one gold and three bronze medals, while national levels 2 and 3 took home a combined haul of four gold and eight silver.
Broome took a clean sweep of the podium at national level 4, with Holly Beadle, Kiara Ramsay and Paige Clifton taking first, second and third respectively.
Mikaylah Pigram achieved first overall at national level 5 and Tian Hall won gold at national level 6.
In the men’s competition, the Broome club won two gold, one silver and one bronze medal at national level 1. Gold was won by Charlie Pascoe in arguably the standout performance of the weekend.
At national level 2 the club won a silver and a bronze award. AJ Pigram was the only competitor to represent Pearl Coast Gymnastics Club at national level 3 and his consistently tight performance won him gold.
Coach Catherine Cilia was full of praise for those who took part.
