Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre’s facilities are ever-popular with sports enthusiasts and swimmers alike, however it appears something else is on the menu — hot chips.

The Shire of Broome has released a number of interesting figures in their 2011-12 annual report, which reveals that 4,725 serves of chips were dished out over the course of the 12 months.

The report also suggests facilities such as BRAC and the Broome Public Library are as popular as ever. Over the year, it is estimated the BRAC swimming pool was swam in 60,000 times, which averages out to be over 170 per day.

BRAC also provided swimming lessons for close to 1000 students, hosted 50 birthday parties and was the venue for eight school swimming carnivals.

In total there were 75,399 visits to the Broome Public Library, with 66,505 items issued to library members over the course of the year.

Story Time sessions for children were attended by 742 youngsters, while another 495 turned up for other events at the library.
