It is finally here – the Broome racing season is coming to its climax over the next few weeks with the Woodside Cup this Friday, Kimberley Cup next week, and the long-awaited Ladies’ Day and Broome Cup to finish the season on a grand note.

This Friday, July 27, those lucky enough to take the afternoon off may be off for a flutter at the Woodside Cup, with a $20,000 prize on offer.

If you missed out, don’t despair – next week on August 4, join in the excitement as the horses tear up the dust in the $40,000 Kimberley Cup, sponsored by the Roebuck Bay Hotel. Entertainment will include a Crystals Surf and Fashion parade, belly dancing and the Sandfly Circus. And while Fremantle will take on the Eagles at 2.40pm that day – don’t stay home, you won’t miss the derby, as it will be broadcast on many TV screens throughout the ground.

Then on August 14, come back for Ladies Day on Tuesday, August 14. The Broome Turf Club will host its Pindan and Pearls luncheon, with limited tickets including members’ entry, champagne, wine, beer and non-alcoholic beverage, canapés, and live entertainment.

Willie Creek will also host its Fashions on the Field event, with first prize an Australian South Sea pearl pendant on an 18ct white gold Omega necklace, valued at $3390.
