One lucky Broome resident has become an overnight millionaire after taking out Division 1 in last night’s lottery draw.

The $1 million winning ticket was sold at Chinatown Newsagency and was the only Division 1 winner across the nation.

With the ticketholder yet to come forward to claim their prize, players are being urged to check their tickets.

The last Division 1 Lotto ticket sold at Chinatown Newsagency was less than two years ago - a Saturday Lotto ticket worth $472,444.

Chinatown Newsagency owner Nescia Hick believed it was the combination of good staff and the beauty of Broome that had contributed to the store's ongoing luck.

"Broome is relatively small so the news is spreading fast. People have been rushing in to check their tickets hoping they are the new millionaire," she said.

"The second best thing to winning Lotto myself, is selling a Division 1 winning ticket to my customers, we're very happy.”

Chinatown Newsagency is expecting a busy week following the win and said they're aiming to make another player a Lotto winner again soon.
