Car hits man crossing road

NICOLA KALMARBroome Advertiser

A 63-year-old Broome man was hit by a car last week as he attempted to cross a busy street in Chinatown.

The man was crossing Hamersley Street about noon on Tuesday, April 3, when he was struck by a four-wheel-drive vehicle.

Police officers and an ambulance attended the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to Broome Hospital for treatment.

A police spokeswoman said the man had a suspected broken pelvis and was in a stable condition. She said the driver of the vehicle was breath tested and was given the all-clear.

Police this week said investigations into the incident were continuing.
