Broome squash club held their individual club championships at BRAC in late May, with a three-day weekend of action.

The mixed tournament comprised of 32-person draws in A and B-grade, and also including a plate event at both levels.

In the A-grade there was a huge upset when number 16 seed Geoff Evans knocked out number 4 seed Ryan Burns. The final saw was number 1 seed Neale Woodroffe take on number 3 seed Matt Reimer. It proved to be a classic, with Reimer taking the victory in five long games.

In the B-grade, 14-yr-old Seth Lovell shocked onlookers when he dispatched the highly fancied number 2 seed Neels Pretorious. The teenager made it all the way through to the final, where he encountered number 1 seed Craig Starcevich.

Lovell started well to take the first game, but Starcevich came back to win the match. Despite this, Lovell was awarded the MVP award for the tournament.
