Cupid’s bow still busy in Broome
Valentine’s Day, for some it is the ideal opportunity to serenade a loved one; for others it’s a marketing gimmick to pull on heart strings and empty wallets.
However, it looks like Broome is full of love, as Broome Florist was overrun with husbands, boyfriends and hopeless romantics buying flowers for their partners on February 14.
Mel Horner runs the florist on Hunter Street and is kept busy with birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other events during the year.
Valentine’s Day is the business’ most hectic and demanding date on the calendar.
“This year’s Valentine’s Day was definitely busier than last year,” Mrs Horner said.
“However, it was reassuring to see that most of the fellas were very organised this year, and planned everything out well in advance.”
So there you have it. Regardless of the cynical nature of some, it appears most of the Broome community welcome the chance to spoil their other half and make an effort to impress on Valentine’s Day.
