Fight bid by Woodside
Energy giant Woodside has applied to join the fight against the latest Supreme Court challenge to the State Government’s approvals process for the proposed $30 billion gas hub at James Price Point near Broome.
But Supreme Court Chief Justice Wayne Martin was told on February 12 the Wilderness Society of WA and traditional owner Richard Hunter would oppose Woodside Energy’s bid to join the proceedings.
Lawyer Johannes Schoombee said the legal action, which has been taken against Environment Minister Bill Marmion and the Environmental Protection Authority, did not involve any allegation against Woodside and it would be argued it was not a necessary party to the proceedings.
Woodside’s application will be heard later this month.
