First round produces close games

The first round of the new Broome touch football season saw some exciting and entertaining games played last Thursday at BRAC.

In the A-division Blackoutz and Rubber Ducks displayed skill and speed but couldn’t be separated, with the game finishing 5-5. Milton Miskin was a standout while Julieka Stewart also performed well for Rubber Ducks.

Phoenix Flyers were victorious against Barbarians, winning 9-4 in an end-to-end game. Matty Corpus was among the tries for the victors.

Bullets flexed their muscles with an 8-4 win over Outta Touch and will be one of the frontrunners for the crown in their division.

Wannabees and Touch Ups contested an even game, but the former came out with a 5-2 win. Jack Pascoe bagged three tries for the winners.

Runaways put nine on the board to Scoregasms’ seven, in a good game for spectators, while Exploders beat new team The Touchables 7-6.

Seasoned social team Try Hards got their season off to a winning start, beating debutants Tagnam Style 10-2. It was a memorable game for Emma Jane Kilgour, who got her first try after six seasons of competing.

Back It Ups also recorded victory, beating Saints 9-5, while Just Us overcame Can’t Teach This 5-3.

Bulls FC enter the competition for the first time and beat Chalkies 8-6 at the first time of asking in an impressive display.
