Weekly events at Discovery Holiday Park this year have raised more than $7000 for St John Ambulance. The food fundraisers have treated guests to Monday night barramundi burgers, Tuesday night seafood platters and Wednesday night camp ovens.

Paramedic Sarel de Koker said the funds would benefit the organisation greatly. “This is a huge amount of money for us, and it will really help with day-to-day things which keep the service running well,” he said.

From March 1 to June 30, the total stood at $7791.92, with fundraisers set to continue this year. Discovery Holiday Park managers Mark and Kathryn Powell said they didn’t initially have a huge understanding of the organisation until they found out it was primarily made up of volunteers.

“When we found out there was only one paid paramedic, we realised we had to do something to help,” she said. Fundraisers at the park will continue throughout the year.
