Footprints give the game away

Broome AdvertiserBroome Advertiser

Broome Police used old-fashioned detective work to track down three alleged juvenile burglars early this week, by following their footprints.

Police allege the three offenders cut through flywire before removing glass louvers and climbing into the kitchen of a Broome home in the early hours of Monday morning before making off with handbags and purses.

They were tracked down a short time later and all property was recovered and returned to its owners.

Broome Police officer in charge, senior sergeant Rob Neesham, said it was an opportunistic crime but it was good to see residents had heeded calls to keep doors and windows locked.

The three alleged offenders were charged with burglary and will appear in Broome Magistrate’s Court at a later date.
