Grey Wolf success for quartet of committed Scouts

Gareth McKnightBroome Advertiser

Four Broome youngsters have put in countless hours of hard work to achieve the highest available award in the Broome Scout Group – the prestigious Grey Wolf Award.

The committed quartet of Aiden Goodes, 10, Josh Newton, 10, Alex Rogers, 11 and Darcy McGough, 11, received their awards at a ceremony at Lotteries House earlier this month and join noteworthy alumni in being handed the honour.

To be granted this illustrious accolade the youngsters had to hold the gold boomerang, complete four level-two achievement badges, a special interest badge, attend two pack councils, participate in four outdoor activities including an overnight camp and run a two hour hike.

The boys learned a host of skills and traits that will be vital to them as they grow up, including social responsibility and leadership.

Cub leader Susie McGough said the four boys demonstrated motivation and persistence and were a credit to their families and to Broome Sea Scouts.

“I am so proud of the achievement Aiden, Josh, Alex and Darcy have made,” she said.

“The boys have tried their best in everything that they do and with the support of their families have all achieved the highest award in Cub Scouts.”
