The Lonely Planet’s new Perth and West Coast Australia Travel Guide has described Kununurra as a beautiful “oasis” set among lush tropical fruit and sandalwood plantations.

Hailed as “the departure point for most tours in the East Kimberley” the book sings praise to many of the region’s unique and spectacular natural attractions.

The new guidebook, released this month, describes the Kimberley as “Australia’s last frontier of remote, spectacular scenery spread over huge distances”. Halls Creek, “on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert”, is congratulated on its “excellent visitors centre,” while Wyndham’s “superb sunsets” are recommended to visitors.

Perth and West Coast Australia is the second of three new Australian guidebooks Lonely Planet is publishing in 2013.
