Homes company lays fine Foundation
Continuing its fight to close the gap of housing affordability in Broome, Foundation Housing has launched a new project in Broome North, with 30 new units to benefit low income earners.
One of WA’s largest affordable housing providers, Foundation Housing has partnered with Landcorp and Engawa Architects on the project, and awarded a tender to H&M Tracey for development of the 20 two bedroom and 10 one-bedroom units within Broome North.
Foundation Housing development and acquisitions executive officer Chris Milne said the accommodation would be made
available to a target group of 70 per cent moderate-income key service workers and 30 per cent
low-income social tenants. He said construction was expected to start in the next week.
The project has been funded by Foundation Housing, with support from Department of Housing and National Rental Affordability Scheme funding provided through Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
Mr Milne said projects such as this acted as a pathway between public and private markets, giving residents the opportunity for sustainable accommodation. “We see access to secure, sustainable and affordable housing as a major issue facing communities across the State and we are committed to working hard towards alleviating the shortfall,” he said.
