A new classroom resource aimed at helping students learn more about cane toads was launched in Broome last week.

Environment Minister Albert Jacob visited Cable Beach Primary School to promote the new education manuals which complement the State Government's $81.5 million Kimberley Science and Conservation Strategy.

The publications have been produced by the Department of Parks and Wildlife with funding support from Perth Zoo and aimed at students in Years 1-3 and 4-6.

They will be distributed to all Kimberley schools and contain curriculum-linked lesson plans with worksheets and background information for teachers.

Mr Jacob said it was important to raise awareness about the toads.

Cane toads have been present in the Kimberley since 2009, with the Government investing more than $7.8 million in strategies to minimise their impact on the environment.
