Kimberley builders clean up in MBA Awards

A host of Kimberley builders and construction industry representatives were celebrated and recognised at this year’s Master Builders Bankwest Building Excellence Awards.

The annual event, now in its 14th year, showcases the best residential and commercial projects built in the North West over the past 18 months.

Around 160 guests from the Kimberley and Pilbara attended the black tie event at Zanders on May 14 including special guests WA Commerce Minister Michael Mischin and Member for Durack Melissa Price.

Once again, local builders were well-represented, with H&M Tracey Construction scooping 10 awards, Elson Builders clinching seven accolades and PGM Constructions receiving six awards.

Colin Wilkinson Developments won four awards, while Broome Builders scooped five.

Other award winners included North West Builders, Custom Lifestyle Homes, Tjallara Building Company, Norbuilt and Pindan Contracting.

Best Country Home was awarded to PGM Constructions, while best commercial building went to Pindan Contracting.

Carpenter Jeremy Allan from Broome Builders was awarded Apprentice of the Year, while Matthew Hall from H&M Tracey Construction was crowned Supervisor of the Year.

Master Builders regional manager Di Gilleland said this year’s event was another success.

“Given the current economic climate it was so pleasing to hear on arrival of the positiveness from our builders,” she said.

“They all work well together and support each other and work towards that one goal of producing quality workmanship.

“Everyone should be very proud of the builders from the regions.”
