Kimberley Training Institute vies for State title
Kimberley Training Institute is in the running to be recognised at the annual WA Training Awards in Perth tomorrow night reaching the finals of two categories.
KTI has been shortlisted in the large training provider of the year category, and is up against Balcatta's College of Electrical Training for the accolade.
The Kimberley training provider was nominated for the award in 2011 and 2012 and hopes are high it will be third-time lucky this year.
Visual arts trainer Jacky Cheng is one of three candidates shortlisted for the prestigious WA trainer of the year award.
Ms Cheng has had notable success with her students, who have won the best indigenous art category at the Shinju Matsuri art awards for the past three years.
She has also been heavily involved with the development of a community art centre in Bidyadanga.
KTI managing director Karen Dickinson said she was thrilled to be a finalist again.
"We are a finalist in these awards because our trainers continue to find innovative ways to engage our students, both on campus and in remote communities," she said.
"KTI is the fastest growing State training provider in Australia and by the end of 2013 will have grown nearly 70 per cent in the last four years."
