LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Police should get on their bikes

Now that we are in the dry season with beautiful weather, it would be great to have police bicycle patrols, particularly in and around Broome and Cable Beach.

They currently work very well in Perth, so should prove to be even better here with ideal terrain, good cycleway connections, and ideal weather conditions.

The benefits are many, including a closer connection with community members and visitors, an obvious presence, easy access to back laneways, police officers providing a healthy role model by being active, keeping fit and healthy, saving on fuel costs and respecting our environment.

As an avid cyclist I can only add: on yer bike!
