A 44-year-old man charged with stealing $2.1 million from his Broome-based employers appeared in court today.

Wayne Peter Lynch, of Broome, is facing 119 counts of stealing as a servant between March 2014 and December 2015.

Broome magistrate Steven Sharratt said the charges mainly relate to when the defendant was working for Broome company McCorry Brown Earthmoving.

Mr Sharratt said there were other companies involved but he did not read out the charges in detail or give their names.

When asked by Mr Sharratt, the defendant confirmed he had applied through his lawyer to have the matter dealt with in Perth.

Mr Lynch was taken into custody until his bail surety was met.

The matter was adjourned to Perth Magistrates’ Court on February 26.
