Markets a showcase of the crafty side of life
Vibrant, busy and full of life, Broome’s Courthouse Markets is a bustling hub for the creative and innovative craftsmen and women of Broome.
Wind your way through the markets early on a Saturday morning and you will discover an eclectic mix of arts, crafts, jewellery, furniture, photography and clothing.
From fragrant soaps, candles and stunning photography to art, plants, alternative therapies, henna tattoos, indulgent, old-fashioned smoothies and the best ever steak sandwich, whatever your fancy, you will find at the Courthouse Markets.
It is Broome’s centre for the amazing, the delightful and the bizarre. There is always something new to marvel at.
To top it off, operations have never been smoother since the Courthouse Markets committee engaged part-time co-ordinator Simone Rogers.
With a proactive and can-do attitude, Ms Rogers has opted to harness social media, promoting the markets through its website and Facebook page, which not only publicise the markets themselves, but individual businesses, some of which are quite small.
Ms Rogers said plans were coming together for the Courthouse Markets’ vibrant dry season, including live entertainment and music.
Some of the acts lined up included Mitchell (Fingers) Cullen, Susie Quicke, Tanya Ransom, Dave Mann and Robbie Dann.
Live entertainment adds to the atmosphere during the dry season, not only each Saturday but on Staircase Market dates as well, when stallholders set up shop at Pioneer Park, Town Beach, a perfect spot to marvel at the Staircase To The Moon each month.
Musicians and entertainers interested in being a part of the program can contact the Courthouse Markets through the website: www.broomecourthousemarkets.com.au.
The Courthouse Markets are held from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays throughout the year and also on Sundays from the Easter weekend to October at the Broome courthouse grounds.
The Staircase Markets are held on full moon nights from May until October.
