New facilities are reason to party
Sandcastles, face painting and crafts were just some of the activities enjoyed by mums and toddlers recently when Jack and Jill Playgroup held an open day.
Staff organised the morning event on April 13 to showcase recent renovations and additions around the centre. Around 70 families arrived to enjoy the morning and enjoyed networking.
Thanks to a Lotterywest grant which the group applied for in 2010, the centre purchased new shade sails and outdoor tables for families to enjoy.
Jack and Jill Playgroup president Bec Lorraine said it had been a few years since the centre held an open day and said it was a great success.
“We thought it was a good opportunity to show everyone the improvements we have made to the centre,” she said.
Elmo paid a visit to the centre for the first hour before kids took part in different activities including colouring-in, making crafts and taking turns on outdoor play equipment.
Ms Lorraine said the playgroup was looking forward to growing later this year after securing a sponsorship grant from the
Broome Shire.
