No Limits, Pacers victorious

The women's No Limits and the men's Beagle Bay Pacers triumphed at the McDonald's Broome Basketball Carnival last weekend.

The competition encompassed 18 men's and 12 women's teams from the Pilbara and West and East Kimberley towns, with 102 competition games played at Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre throughout the weekend.

After several elimination rounds, the women's No Limits team defeated Titans in a nailbiting grand final.

No Limits, a composite team from Broome, Derby and Darwin, beat combined Newman and Broome team Titans, 34-29.

The Beagle Bay Pacers defeated No Limits in the men's final, 33-19.

The Beagle Bay Pacers comprised players from Beagle Bay and Broome while No Limits encompassed Broome, Derby and Port Hedland.

Cable Beach Greenbacks basketballer Dylan Prosser was named most valuable male player of the carnival, and Anthony Edgar and Lorenzo Ngerdu were runners-up.

Taizers player Kimberley Pickett took out most valuable woman, followed by Titans' Jo Johnson.

The event was sponsored by McDonald's, the Department of Sport and Recreation Kimberley, Garnduwa, Bunnings, Fongs Store and Chinatown Pharmacy.
