BRAC aquatic centre is set for a facelift after receiving a $30,000 grant last week.

Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron announced the centre had been successful in securing funding in the first round of the State Government's Community Pool Revitalisation Program.

The funding will go toward resurfacing the toddler pool and making the leisure water area a more attractive, user friendly and fun family space.

BRAC centre manager Casey Zepnick and Shire of Broome staff met with Mr Waldron during his visit to Broome last Thursday to accept the funding and discuss the upgrades.

"We are really looking forward to seeing the BRAC aquatic space develop and get a much needed lift," Mr Zepnick said.

The Royalties for Regions funded program has rolled out in excess of $2.7 million in its first round and the rest of the recipients are to be announced later this month.

Shire of Broome president Graeme Campbell praised the the program.

"The support of the Government's Royalties for Regions fund is truly appreciated," he said.

"The cost of operating and maintaining pools is very large and contributions such as this allow us to continue to provide excellent local facilities."
